2nd July

The bloody rain is back! We've just move out of the wettest ever June and already July is shaping up to be wet. August is usually a washout so it looks like this summer will be a non event!

As I walk into the building I'm greeted by John who gives me a litany of complaints. I listen to them and figure out which ones are issues and which can be ignored. I ignore all the complaints to do with the weekend and the things that caused him problems but that he's solved. I end up with one problem to do with the main entrance door. As I make my way upstairs I spot another problem to do with new doors: no smoke restriction strip, the auto door closer is too slow and the security magnet is not engaging. I drop an email to the doors man and he send a guy over to sort them out.

The switch to the new ISP provider has been successful. We've had some glitches but they've been minor and all seems to be working well. Thank god! We'd been led to believe that we would hit problems but I think our ICT guys have been excellent on this and have closed off potential problems. I send out emails thanking them and copy in their bisses. Hopefully it'll add up to bonuses for them.

I give a few Essex CC a tour of the floor. Another bunch who are really excited about the move into the building and really appreciative of the NW accommodation. Nice! I like basking in the reflected glory of the refurbishment. I guess that I've taken all the shit from the assholes I work with so I could as well claim the glory fo the good stuff!

Incidentally, as I walk them round the floor I notice a number of snags which have been cleared but also see another number which haven't. I had hoped that all would have been cleared last weekend.

Its still wet when I'm close to home. Marian texts me t say she'll pick me up and I grab the offer. Nice!
