6th May

Marian and I decide to go to Goldhanger today as the forecast is not too bad. We head off after breakfast but find that the weathermen have got it  wrong. What a surprise!

I read a book about the guy who founded the meterological stations in GB back in the 1700's. Interestingly enough he was the caption of the Beagle who took Darwin around the world on his famous voyage of discovery. Anyway, it turns out that they never got it righ more than 50% of the time in those days and they don't seem to have made much improvement in their accuracy since then.

Its cold, windy and wet. Not a very enjoyable walk. Very few people are out - the locals knowbetter - and although the tide is in Blake ignores it and doesn't go swimming. Most unusual for him.

Back home, I spend the afternoon sorting through our cupboard in the newly decorated backroom. Nothing is allowed back in here until the two  cupboards have been cleared. I've done one but the other needs doing.

This one is full of computer gear, old discs, old games and photographs. I start with the computer stuff. Its a trip down memory lane. I find games on 5 inch disks. We don't even have the means of reading these discs now. I end up throwing three bags of rubbish out of this cupboard today.

Pascale and Colin come over. We're looking after Colin as she's going out with Steve and Laura and some of her old friends from Colchester. Sit and chat with her before she heads off.

A quiet night in front the TV tonight.
