4th May

May the fourth be with you! And the fifth and the sixth! Lol. Star Wars has a lot to answer for!

A more pleasant day but its still drizzling - a bit like this blog when it comes to precipitation! The waters are still high. The pics below show the water level of the stream today and as it was in August last year. Quite a difference!

Marian has lent me her Kindle so that I can catch up with Book 4 of the Game of Thrones. It's a strange way to read a book but much lighter. Its simple to use, the e-ink is good and it has absolutely no flicker. Not bad. I guess I could get accustomed to it.

I spend some time with Andrew from the construction company going through the finances of the refurbishment project. Checking the invoices, looking at what's outstanding and checking for any retentions we should be invoking. Discuss some of the requirements fo the extra phase of work I want to do on refurbishment of the Post Room and Print area.

Steve is away today so I check with Graham and he confirms that the British Gas engineer is on site to fix the roof tiles. He calls me later in the day to say that he isn't happy with their work and asks me to have a look at the roof. I ask John to join me and we climb the scaffolding to have a look. We has reported a broken tile to British Gas. On their first inspection their engineer reported that there was a broken tile but that he had broken another one when he stepped on the roof to inspect it. This latest visit to fix the two broken tiles have resulted in a further 6 tiles being broken and they have been glued together using mastic! These guys are cowboys. I tell Graham to stop them from doing further work. We'll sort the problem a different way.

Pascale and Colin come over for dinner. Alex is away and she fancies company. Its nice to spend time together and we spend the evening (and early morning) sitting round the kitchen table chatting, eating, listening to music, drinking, talking and generally enjoying each other's company. We solve the world's problems, create a few more and figure out what needs to be done for the future before hitting the sack.
