The main staircase is now open. All the work has been completed on it. It looks really good.
The doors are also all now on including thenew hardwood doors on te side entrance and the main staircase. Someironmongery is still missing and some of the old ironmongery looks completely wrong on these new doors. I'll have to get something done about that.
I check on the courtyard and find that that has also been worked on. The rubbish has been cleared, the old shingle moed out and the new slate brought in and the slabs have all been cleaned. It also looks good. I find out afterward that Graham took out about a ton of shingle on the weekend. He had also worked until 6 on both the Saturday and Sunday. Both of those days were very hot and the stones could only be moved by hand.
I've arranged to meet Steve for an inspection and to have a beer and a bite to say farewell. He's late so John and I do it on our own.
We meet Steve and Graham in the local and have a couple of beers and a meal. He's been having problems with his new site. The torrential rains has been causing problems with his foundation excavations at the new site.
I have a stroll around the floor with him. It looks good but we now have the last few snags to get done and these are the bits that the sub-contractors are notorious at avoiding.
One of my colleagues wants to have a street party for our teams in the office to celebrate the jubilee. It won't be a real street party just a couple of tables with food and drink in one of the corridors! Great idea! I put some money into the food fund.
I continue with preparing for the ICT switchover. I draft a note to be sent out to all in the council, make sure that the new emails and phone numbers for the new setup will work. I put the note round the team for comment and to see if there's anything overlooked. The come back with some ideas and I include them. I have decided to hold the email until the day before.
