3rd March

Start the day with a visit to the dentist. The clock tower in Coggeshall near to the dentist looks rather great.

After breakfast we head off to Goldhanger. Its overcast and breezy but dry. Along the walk we notice a hawk of some kind hovering over a field. Every once in a while it swoops and then returns to its same position. As we get closer I realise that its man made. Its tethered to a rod and its the breeze keeping it aloft. Every time the wind drops its swoops and then recovers itself as its quite breezy. Its a scarecrow of some kind!

The sun comes out in the afternoon so Itake the opportunity to get out into the garden. Tidy up the roses, clear some rubbish off some of the beds and do some general clearing up. Makes me feel quite righteous. Blake carefully inspects my work to make sure I'm doing it right!

In the evening we've invited the Smiths over for dinner. We spend a lovely evening and night eating, drinking, chatting and gossiping.
