24th March - summer in March

The weather is as a midsummers day. Gorgeous sunshine. Warm, bright. Blake and I go for our normal weekend walk.

As we stroll I have my usual mind butterfly activity, thinking through various and many thinkings. Sometimes one at a time and sometimes all of a jumble where things pile up on each other and one thought runs through to another or alongside it and then flips back to something I'd been thinking about minutes ago. The mind is weird and wonderful!

I'd been toying with the idea of writing down my thoughts but have decided against it for a variety of reasons: I'm couldn't possibly write down everything I think of, how do I decide what I don't write down? If I'm going to miss out something then why bother? What happens if it is read by the wrong person? Or someone reads it and misinterprets what I've written? What's the reason for doing it? And knowing that I'm going to write it down, will it influence what I think about? Stuff it! I'll just read other peoples Facebook entries instead. I need to think what I do about this blog as well. I'll review at the end of the month.

Just as we sit down to breakfast I get a call from my office building. John tells me that the British Gas electricians are in and are planning to move the machinery out of the roof void. We've had no quotes for this and the work isn't even being funded by my project. After a load of to'ing and fro'ing I decide to bite the bullet and tell them to just do it. I would like to see the work done and don't want to lose the opportunity.

We finally have breakast.

I then tackle the lawn - first mow of the year. In fact the first mow since last Septmber-ish. Run out of petrol part way through and we rush off to the petrol station but also stop of at the garden centre for some bits and pieces including a water butt that we'll put outside ourbackdoor. Marian has an idea to capture water that we would normally throw out as there is a hosepipe ban and she wants to grow fruit and veg again but they demand alot of water. Beginning to feel like we're living in a third world country!

Pascale turns up wit Colin. Alex is away at a stag do in Budapest and she has decided to come over and spend the night with us. Colin and Blake get on like a house on fire. They play really well together. We let them out into the garden and let them get on with it. It involves a lot of running around, mock battles and they pretend to bite each other in the jugular. Colin gets knocked over a lot and as the lawn is newly mowed he ends up with a green tinge - very Martian!

We have a barbecue. Its too gorgeous a day to miss the opportunity. Sit round the kitchen table and chat about various things. Its great to spend some quality time like this together.

The clocks go forward to British Summer Time so the last thing I do is change the bedroom clock to the right time.
