The sun is now past the equator on its way north. Well, I know that's not what happens but it feels like that down here. The day and night are the same length today but that means that the days are now getting longer. The corollary is that the nightsare shorter. Like the rest of my family - cos of Mum I think - I'm a night person so this suits me to a T.
I'm getting into the new book - a present from Warren and Mirabel for Xmas. Its a thriller by the Norwegian author Jo Nesbo. I'm having withdrawal symptoms from the Game of Thrones but this is also a very good story. Its a bit like the GoT in that the action switches between different characters and the story is told from their eyes.
In the office we've got a Managers Conference where Cherie and I are doing a joint presentation on the partnership working we did with the other 3 councils to secure the new ICT contract. Its a good conference. I think these things are worthwhile and that we should have more. The council only has them once a year but I think quarterly would be better. A number of my colleagues think that yearly is too frequent and that they should be dropped. I've worked in BT where I've seen how successful these gatherings can be. Sharing info, networking and empowerment are the key to these being successful. Unfortunately, too many of these managers want the management board to tell them what to do. I believe it works the other way round.
Afterwards, I catch up with Steve on the refurbishment work then sort out the invoices for the other councils to pay for the legal and ICT services we got whilst we were negotiating the new ICT contract.
The money from Dad's estate has finally been cleared. I send of Phil's and Andy's shares to their accounts.
