17th March - St Patrick's Day

I take Blake out in the morning. Its a grey day and it drizzles a bit as we set off. I do spend a lot of time thinking things through when I go on these walks - more so than say when I'm walking to work. I think it's because there is no end goal to this walk. Its Blake's time and I get some me time for free. I think about all sorts, past, present, future, work, personal, relationships, the books I'm reading, memories, Mum & Dad. All kinds of stuff. I think I might keep a personal record about those. I don!t know - I have to think about that and if there's any point to it or whether its too introverted.

Its slippery underfoot and for some reason it makes me remember the western novels I used to read when i was a young teenager. One little known fact I learned then is that the Indians trails were narrower than the white man's because they put their feet one in front the other not side by side. I walked like that for most of my young teenage life but gradually drifted back to the normal western way. I try it again now but it doesn't help to combat the slipperiness.

I take a couple of pics of the field and decide that I will do this monthly so that I have a track of the vegetation throughout the year to see what the different seasons brings to this area.

Keith and Yvonne are coming over for a rugby fest today. Its all the last three games on today. We also phone Warren and tell him to pop over and join us.

Italy/Scotland is boring. They're fighting for the wooden spoon. And it shows. Both teams play badly and its obvious why they're at the bottom.

By contrast Wales/France is a great game. Its very close at first but then the Welsh shifts a gear and the French don't match the step change. Their rugby isn't as fluid and they lose the plot. Keith is over the moon. This is another grand slam win for Wales and they're the championship winners - well deserved!

England/Ireland is a super game as well. England are the superior team and eventually pull away from the Irish in the second half and trounce them. This English team is showing a lot of promise and will go far.

Afterwards we get an Indian Takeaway and continue chatting with Keith and Yvonne into the night. Its a while since we've seen them so its good to catch up.
