Monday the 13th

That title doesn't have the same ring as Friday the 13th. I suspect that it would never be a box office hit!

Thinking about it, was it Friday the 13th when Jesus was killed?

Anyway, back to Monday. Its much warmer, the snow I'd disappearing (yes!) And I'm so pleased. Get stuck into my book. There are loads of the reads running, through this one - its nearly 900 pages and the author seems to have mapped out every nook and cranny of his main characters, their characteristics, beliefs, loves and ideas. I can't say too much here as Marian is reading the book and I suspect that she dips into this blog.

As an aside: I keep getting some weird words and sentence structures as i write this blog. The spell checker has a mind of its own. I sometimes find that I have written something slightly different to what I thought I'd typed in so I end up changing the back end of the sentence.

Working through my emails I get a call from Reception to tell me that my visitor has arrived. I've completely forgotten that, with Cherie away, I'm supposed to be meeting with the new ICT Transition Manager. I meet up with him. Show him around and settle him in. Luckily, he has his own agenda which doesn't involve me or my direct team so I leave him to it.

In the site office, I meet with Steve and we go through the works programme of last week and the week to come. I realise that I haven't been in much for the last week as I worked from home on Weds, was on leave on Thurs and only lasted a couple of hours on Fri. I've got nearly a week to catch up on. He's done good but no less than I expected. He's bloody good at his job and I feel that I fell on my feet when they appointed him to work with us.

I then run the project board - more people missing than present - and bring them up to speed with the project.

I start going through the project finances. There's just about £1m left. It will need careful management since everyone seems to expect miracles from the project. I'm getting quite nervous about it. I get the paperwork together so that i can tackle it first thing in the morning.
