Busy Saturday 4th Feb

I get up early to take Blake for a walk. Its sunny but cold and the walk is quite enjoyable. Whilst I'm out I get a message from Mirabel inviting us over for dinner tonight. We jump at the opportunity and agree to go over in the evening.

After breakfast I meet Phil at his workplace so that he can run through the problems we've been having with the electrics in the Audi. We manage to find out what it's not but not the actual problem. We have a seafood platter and pint in a pub and afterwards I pop back to his place to pick up a software package and chat with him and Brenda.

Back home, we settle down to watch the rugby - England v Scotland. It promises to be exciting. Just as we start Pascale, Alex and Colin turn up - they're going out with Steve and Laura in Colchester tonight and we'redog-sitting Colin. He and Blake get on well with each other so its no problem looking after him.

We warn them about the weather and Marian takes them into town. We watch the end of the game - England wins!

We make our way over the Warren and Mirabel's. We take the two dogs with us so that they can play with Petal - their spaniel. In the event, she ignores them so they just play on their own. The meal, chat and drink goes down well and we have a great evening with them - ending up in front the fire with drinks and the dogs. At 10pm, the snow arrives as forecast by the Met Office.

We leave before it gets too deep and to allow Warren and Mirabel to get some sleep as they have to be up early the next day. Pascale and Alex phone to say that they're having problems getting a cab back. They eventually have to give up and stay overnight with Steve and Laura. The snow settles at somewhere between 4 and 6 inches deep - very deep for this part of the country.
