23rd Feb - stuff happens!

When I get in I'm told that there have been problems with the server room again overnight and that the alarm people are looking at it. I decide to leave it with the people who set it up.

I then get grabbed by the Chief Exec's PA who tell me tha the Chairman's office is in a mess. I tell her to leave it with me whilst I check it out. Turns out that they haven't finished working on it even thoug I was told that the work was done on the weekend. I tell Steve that its gotta be sorted out by tonight as she needs to use it.

I then find out that Lesley has been misinformed about the door security system and that it has to be commissioned and that can't be done today. She has tried to do this on her own and has now come unstuck!

Various people want access to the site and Steve is getting pissed off I suspect. He is making life hard for people asking to get in there as they're all doing it direct to him. I think I need get this under control and have any requests put throug me.

I get my team together for our Team meeting. These are monthly get togethers. I had the last one in the pub. They liked that and asked for future ones to be held there as well. I'd love to but can't. I tell them that I'll consider quarterly ones. We have a good, frank discussion on whats happening and I let them know what I do about the future proposals for the council and my views on whats likely to happen next.

This is immedialtely followed by a Project board meeting for the accommodation refurbishment project. This drags on a bit - too much chat in some places.

I need Building control to sign off our fire proofing plans but they're pussyfooting on this and reluctant to make a decision. I chivvy them along to try and get a sign off. I'm promised that I'll get the sign-off later in the day.

Steve then tells me that the pv panels need equipment in the roof void. None of us were aware of this so I tell the climate change officer that he needs to check it out. He tries to fob it off on me but I remind him that its his responsibility.

I get grabbed by Ros who complains of the noise around her (thats rich as she's the noisiest person in her area with everyone complaining about the racket she makes! She teel me that yesterday she couldn't concentrate because187 people walked past her desk!
