11th Feb - glorious weekend

I get up and feed the two dogs. Well, Blake wolfs down his food whilst Colin tries to nick a couple of the bits in between Blake scoffing.

I then get into my 4 layers of clothing, winter books and merino socks and take them across the fields. The roadside ice and snow has melted a bit from the sun and the heat of the traffic so the walk on the sidewalk isn't too bad. The fields are a bit different but a tractor has driven down the path so the walk is easy for me. The dogs romp around the field and play which each other. They give themselves a lot of exercise!

At the bit that gets boggy we slog across the snow - this is more hard work as few people have been this way and we have to make our own way across. Partway to my destination I see the farmer with a shotgun on his shoulder in the distance and decide that we will turn back. I'm worried about how tired Colin might be getting and Blake has had a good run for his money as well. As it turns out we're away for more that an hour and a half so its a good walk for all of us.

The four of us have breakfast fruit salad for 3 of us and yoghurt and oats for Marian followed by cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and coffee. We help Pascale and Alex load up, see them off and I head off to meet with Phil.

He's helping me to sort out the electrics on the Audi. We still don't know which bit is wrong and are trying to track it down. He had got some software which I had loaded on my laptop and we're going to use it in conjunction with a diagnostic tool he has borrowed.

We eventually figure out how to use the software - a bit of trial and error,  translation of some random German phrases (German software which was supposed to be in English but some dialog boxes are still in the original format) and a lot of common sense. After working it through, he figures out that it is the wiring as that is what the diagnostic tool is pointing to. He'll phone Audi and tell them what he has discovered and see if they agree with the analysis.

Back home for lunch. Marian and I watch the England v Italy rugby match. Good result in that England win but the Italians have played a really good game. They're improving year on year.

We have a quiet night in watching telly and hit the sack early - we need it after the previous nearly sleepless night.
