GAL!: the water coming out of this hot water tap is coming out slower than the water that comes out of the tap in the tea point upstairs (the council decided to give you more free time away from your desk!)
So here we go again. Rainy wet morning. I let Blake out after feeding him and he comes back in soaking wet. He gets a good towelling down - he loves that! However, by the time I leave (an hour or so later) it is still cloudy but the rain is dying off. Its actually not a bad day. Pleasant for a brisk walk if you're wrapped up. I am.
The trains run well - it's a real pleasure to travel when they do. I just wish it happened more often!
In the office I prepare for meeting with the contractors and our construction company. Its a productive meeting and we get through a lot even though it takes us 3 hours to get there.
We've discovered that there is asbestos in the site and I'm nervous about the message that will go out. It has to be controlled otherwise we'll end up with a mass panic. My research shows that it is not dangerous if handled carefully and that it has been in the building since it was built. But, there is no way we can tell how people will react.
I have a meeting with our Health & Safety officer to talk about some lighting issues (more on this later) but she has a long list of complaints of her own before we get stuck in to the issue at hand.
I've decided to start listing the complaints I get about the refurbishment at the top of this blog in future. I'm going to call it GAL! - get a life! The comment in brackets behind it will be what I wish I had said, what I thought in hindsight or what I wanted to say at the time. The GAL! Above is the first of these.
We're going to have to power off the building at some point in the future so that we can sort out the electrics. I start working out what the repercussions will be and how best to handle the weekend. The main problem will be the server room.
