I get absolutely drenched on the walk down to the station. The rain is driven by the wind and penetrates everything. Quite miserable but the new shoes stand up well and my feet stay dry. Oh bliss!
The trains run well (in both directions - hence the snide comment about the whole day in Braintree.
The day is split between the emails on the ICT contract, planning our projects and workloads for the new year and various accommodation issues (the leak in the kitchen has gone away now that the gutters have been cleared - good thing considering all the rain we had last night). As an aside, it was so rainy and windy last night that the dog got quite worried and snuck upstairs to sleep in our bedroom! Poor boy. He's only just over two and never experienced anything like that before.
I had a chat with our Chief Exec about the new digital clock/stopwatch for the committee area. Worked out what we could do and then had a chat about the colour of the lights for the digits in the clock - they come in red, green and yellow. I thought that red is too garish and that yellow is too bland so suggest green. He just assumed that they would be white and has to spend a bit of time thinking about this. We have a Conservative council so we can't have red as that is Labour nor Green as that is the Green party and yellow is the Lib Dems. However, we have no Lib Dems in the council so we're to have yellow digits! Oh life!
The litany of complaints today run from: can we stop people from eating cooked food at their desks as the smells travel; two inexplicable cracked windows; lights too bright; the grounds look untidy now that some of the interior of the building has been refurbished; the kitchen is too cold. You can only love it. On the plus side: the building looks great and I'm quite pleased with what has been done by the sub-contractors. I must admit I just want to get started on the second floor so that we can get the refurbishment done.
