Late post - 20th Jan

I've taken the day off and am glad that I've done it this way round. The mini lie-in is very welcome.
I see Alex and Pascale (and Colin) off and do a bit of tidying up while Marian walks the dog.
Today is a valley in the middle of the highs on the actual birthday on one side and the celebration day on the other.
After breakfast I do some drinks shopping in Sainsburys and visit Ray and Rita with Marian. His legs are still giving him a lot of trouble but he has finally got a hospital appoinment to do something about his back. The National Health treatment of old people is something less than desireable in this country at the moment and I fear that the coalition of ConDems will actually condemn it - if you pardon the pun! The Libs aren't strong enough to stand up to the right wing rubbish from the Conservatives.
