First working Monday

It's great when Nat Express East Anglia gets its act together. Everything works as it should this morning and I get to the office in good time.

Sort out the snagging list for the works which still have to be done to remedy problems from the first couple of stages of the refurbishment. In preparation for meeting with the Site Manager and then find out that he's not coming in today!

Then pick up an email from a councillor who is worried that staff might have to pay for car parking in future and concerned that this could affect their pay packet as there are no pay rises again this year. The cynic in me wonders which one of the staff he is related to. This place is quite inter-bred and I need to be careful when I speak out of turn or that I could speak out of turn. Anyway, it turns out that there are no plans to charge for car parking. I wish that NatExEA had the same view on rail tickets!

As an aside: I had a wry smile on my first day travelling when they increased the fares by 6% and then cancelled the first 2 trains I was trying to catch on that day.

I stroll round the refurbished ground floor and look at the furniture and various bits and pieces which have been put in place. It looks really good and quite unlike the warren that existed here before. I really like it and can only hope that the people moving in will also be impressed. The moves start tomorrow so I'll start getting feed-back immediately.

We've still got stacks of emails going through on the new ICT contract which we're hoping to sign on Wednesday. I think we'll make it but it is effort- and brain-consuming going through some of these legal terms.

I get the forms from Marian to sort out the power of attorney for me, Phil and Andy to sign and send off to Max and Meech. Make the final change and send it off to them. Hopefully we can get Dad's property in Guyana sorted out.
