I'd decided to take the day off as I knew the previous evening would be hectic. In the event, I don't feel too bad today - better than I deserve (although I did pace myself as there was a train journey at the end).
We have a leisurely breakfast - too leisurely for that dog who is raring to go. The Smiths looked after him last night and I would guess that he was quite worn out from playing with Petal (their spaniel).
We decide to go to Goldhanger as its a rather pleasant day - bright and sunny, with a cool northerly breeze which is good for a brisk walk. I take the ball thrower and the Samsung tab as I want to see what the camera is like and there are some stunning views across the estuary and the mud flats if the tide is out. The dog is well exercised by us throwing the ball. He's great at running after it and catching it but not at bringing it back. He seems to have got it fixed in his head that he just has to chase the ball!
I take some pics with the tab. The tide is out and there are some great views across the flats and back across the fields. It actually performs well and I'm impressed with the results. I now have a new screen saver and wall paper screen on the tab!
We go to my office in the afternoon to pick up some crates which are being sold off by the council now that all of our internal office moves are complete. I've asked for 20 as we will use them to store Marian's paper files that we have in cardboard boxes in the garage. They're waterproff and rigid so we'll be able to manage the files a bit better and they'll be handy storage when we eventually get rid of the files. We can't get them all in the car so we have to leave 10 of them until next week.
I find out that the window installers have been acting up and that we're likely to face a problem form them in the next few weeks. I'm concerned that they might miss our deadlines. They've been hard people to deal with ever since the project started - not turning up, not meeting dates, making promises that they don't keep! Couldn't ask for a worse company to deal with.
On the way home we stop off to see Ray and Rita. Help move the rug out of the living room and store it in the bedroom - its causing a problem for Ray as he keeps tripping over it and, worryingly, had a serious fall on Wednesday night. Also spend some time chatting about what type of wheelchair he should opt for. An electric one is no good for the car and is heavy for use around the house. However, it does give him local mobility so that the can get to the shops. A regular one could be folded up and put in a car so that he could be transported more easily. But, he,s lost the strength in his arms so can't propel himself and would have to be pushed. This would be too hard for Rita to manage. Its a problem but can't really be resolved until the doctors have given a full assessment.
Back home to a fairly quiet evening and this blog.
