A gorgeous sunny morning. This weather is certainly weird. This time last week we were worrying about the wind and rain and now its all gone (for now).
The trains are running well so I do well getting into Braintree. Stroll into the Post Office to post the power of attorney to Max and bump into Lucy who's working in the town every once in a while. The bump is getting bigger and she looks well. I hadn't realised but they had have bought their own place. I assumed that they were in rented accommodation. I should have known better with Lucy. She's quite savvy with this stuff. We have a chat and she says that she'll get in touch when she's back in Braintree so that we could meet for a bite at lunchtime.
I go to get stamps from the Post Office only to find that its closed due to 'system failure'. I only want stamps for Antigua but can't because their computer system isn't working. What a pile of rubbish! Unbelievable. I think about buying stamps from the shop but I don't know how much the postage is for Antigua so have to leave it for the moment.
Into the office and get stuck into the accommodation project. We have a project board meeting which I drive and I go through the stuff we have to handle for the next two to three months. It's fairly laid back and I manage to lay out the current situation for the people there.
Catch up with some bits and pieces on the other ICT services project and then head off to Chelmsford where we have a meeting with Colchester Borough and Essex County Councils. We're meeting with them to discuss an alternative ISP for us. EssexCC lay out their proposal which sounds pretty damn good right down to a mirrored data centre with in-built resilience. The price is good so we are quite impressed. We ask them to send the paperwork through so we can check it out.
