A miserable, gray, mizzly morning! its wall to wall clouds.
On the way into the office I pop into the Post Office to post off my winter allowance claim (I'm over 60 so can now claim it!). Would you believe it's closed? This is the second time in as many weeks that I've been frustrated when trying to use the facility.
I spend some time sorting out the finances of the project. Dotting i's and crossing t's. We're in the finals phases of the project and I need to watch the spend.
After, I prepare to meet the window installers. They are arrogant, stupid, unco-operative people who I dislike personally and in the business environment. I have real problems meeting and working with them. I have to say that I'm not the only one who feels this way about them as my colleagues in the council and our site manager and his colleagues have the same views. Its hard work but we finally work through the problems and our timetable and their commitments to it. They say that they will be on track but they have always said this and have never delivered to their promises.
I'm prompted to sort out the transfer arrangements for our ICT team to the new company that won the IT support contract. We've got some well paid people who seem to be reluctant to step up to the crease and earn their crust. I do find that frustrating. Part of the problem is me and the people I work with. We like to do a good job and put the effort in. The lazers recognise it and leave us idiots to sort it out. Oh well! Shit happens! Anyway, I set the wheels in motion and sit back to see what happens. As sure as eggs is eggs, the people who respond are the ones who do things and the ones who don't are the ones who need to, get paid for it and never do it. Oh well, I'll have to throw another cat in amongst the pigeons tomorrow.
